LUGAW PROGRAM

Greetings Family and Friends!
We hope you had a wonderful summer! As many of you know, this is the time of year when we launch our “Lugaw Drive” in order to feed over 700 students at 4 different elementary schools in Siquijor, Philippines. If you are new to our organization, we invite you to check out our website and watch the video below so you can learn about the “Lugaw program”.
Last year, we raised over $1200.00 for the one month “Lugaw Drive”, which provided lugaw to the many students for the entire school year. This year, we would like to exceed that goal in order to continue to feed all of the students and provide extra funds for additional school functions that occur throughout the year.
Join us in the month of September for our Annual “Lugaw Drive”. If you would like to support our efforts, you can buy a sack of rice (approximately 100 lbs) that will be provided to the students.
$38.00 for 1 sack of rice
$76.00 for 2 sacks of rice
$ 114.00 for 3 sacks of rice

The Tagalog word lugaw is Chinese in origin. Lugaw is a Filipino dish traditionally thought of a soft food for sick people. But lugaw is enjoyed for breakfast, as a snack, and when you’re sick, even as a meal in itself. Some meat is added to the rice for nutritional value. Chicken bones and ginger are favorite ingredients. Lugaw with chicken is also often referred to by its Spanish name arroz caldo.
